Compassion amidst world’s avidity. Compassion means “to suffer with.” It involves the process of identifying with our neighbors and recognizing our common humanity. Other community relations/ outreach activities may sound ‘doling out’ or might entail momentary or provisional sharing with the less fortunate e.g., Christmas gift giving drive, relief goods distribution during calamities, or infrequent or irregular visits to orphanages or other similar institutions. Nevertheless, it is not only about how much these actions could reach out to others and effect its beneficiaries but more significantly how it changes life’s perspectives among OLCAns, especially the students. Most of the times, with their personal reflections and introspections on these activities, they could not help but realize how ungrateful and dissatisfied they are with their own lives while others live in utter misery and extreme poverty, sometimes worst, in forced poverty.
